"Kickin' Some Serious Grass!"
How much does Hydroseeding Cost?
Hydroseeding is typically priced by the square foot or acre. Price will very by market and application. Under most circumstances, you will find that hydro-seed runs about half to a third the cost of sod, more comparable to the price of conventional seed/straw/tac methods.
Hydroseeding offers a wide array of benefits. Some key advantages of hydroseeding are moisture retention and erosion control. The hydroseed application forms a mulch blanket. This blanket aids in water retention and soil erosion.
Better Erosion Control... Hydroseeding or Straw Blankets?
Not all applications are the same. Hydro-mulch can be applied at higher rates, with additional tackifiers and amendments. These special blends are often refered to as a Bonded Fiber Matrix (BFM) or Flexible Growth Medium (FGM). With a BFM, covering a flood levee (picture to the right), is fast and affordable.
With a BFM/FGM you're basically getting a spray on erosion control blanket. This sprayed on application adheres to every contour of the ground and bonds itself to the soil particles, unlike rolled out blankets, which can be undermined.
Light hydro-mulching applications are often applied for cost efficient temporary erosion/dust control.
Will Hydroseeding Work?
Soil is often the culprit of failed projects. Turf Blasters has a number of products we can incorporate in the hydroseed mixture. This improves soil fertility and affordably reclaims contaminated soils. Things like spilled fracking fluids, salts, carbons, and excessive fertilizer, can leave soil infertile, if left untreated.
